Saturday morning in Newburgh, NY, a man was charged with attempted murder,
a felony, after striking another man with his minivan.
George McNeil, 64, of Newburgh, is now being held in Orange County Jail.
According to police, McNeil was involved in a heated argument with a 20-year-old
man at a Johnston Street residence. The younger man tried to avoid the
confrontation by going outside. At which time McNeil allegedly followed
him out and threatened him.
McNeil later attempted to run the man over with a Nissan Quest. Police
said, he drove it the wrong way down Lander Street and the man was able
to jump out of the way.
McNeil then turned the vehicle around and was able to catch up with him
on Campbell Street, where he struck the man head on, according to police.
The victim was found walking to St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital at about
9:45 a.m. He suffered facial fractures.
