On January 20,2015 in Highland, an unidentified 37-year-old male pedestrian
remains hospitalized after a hit-and-run accident.
According to Lloyd town police, the accident occurred at about 9:30 p.m.
when the pedestrian was walking northbound on Route 9W near White Street
and was struck from behind by Colin D. Krom, 29, of Highland.
The victim suffered facial and shoulder injuries and a broken leg and is
still being treated at Westchester Medical Center for his head and leg injuries.
Krom, who fled the scene of the accident, was arrested on Friday and was
charged with two felonies; reckless endangerment and leaving the scene
of a serious personal injury auto accident and aggravated unlicensed operation,
a misdemeanor. He was arraigned that day before Lloyd Town Justice Eugene
Rizzo and sent to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $25,000.00 cash bail
or $50,000.00 insurance bond. He is due to return to Town Court on February 3rd.
