On Thursday morning in Warwarsing, an accident between a car and a mini-bus
injured nine people, two of which had to be airlifted to a hospital.
According to New York State Police, the accident occurred at about 9 a.m.
near Stanton Road on U.S. Route 209 when a southbound car slammed into
the middle passenger side of a northbound mini-bus, tossing it on it's side.
The bus belonged to Cerebral Palsy of Ulster County. It was transporting
seven adults with development disabilities to a day program in Lake Katrine.
The female driver had to be extricated from her car by rescuers. She and
one of the passengers in the bus were flown by helicopter to West Chester
Medical Center to be treated for head injuries.
The female driver of the van and the remaining six passengers were taken
to Ellenville Regional Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
