The exact reason is unknown. Was it slippery conditions or driver inexperience
or both? Regardless of the reason at least four teenagers were seriously
injured at about 2p.m. on Sunday on Long Pond Road in Carmel, NY when
the car crashed into a stone pillar.
The car was driven by Olivia McBrearty, 16, of Mahopac. Her passengers
were Amanda Pizzola, 17, in the front seat. Back seat passengers were
Anela Reckobic, age unknown, Julian Acquilino, 18 and Jake Mastro, 17.
Everyone involved was taken to the Danbury Hospital and treated for serious
injuries. Some of the injuries include; punctured lung, broken pelvis
and head and neck injuries.
According to Carmel Chief Michael Johnson McBrearty will be sited because
not all of her passengers wore seat belts and for operating the car with
a junior's drivers license with more than two passengers under 21.
The charges are infractions.
At Mainetti, Mainetti & O'Connor we are relieved that there were
no fatalities. For more information, check out our
