Case Facts: Plaintiff was diagnosed with atrial fibrillation by his primary care physician
after suddenly passing out with no warning. The plaintiff did not receive
any medication or treatment for atrial fibrillation from his primary care
physician and he was not referred to a cardiologist for the management
of his life-threatening heart abnormality. Eight months later, the plaintiff
suffered a massive stroke caused by untreated atrial fibrillation.
Injuries/Damages: The plaintiff's stroke caused partial left-sided
paralysis and brain damage with significant cognitive deficits. The plaintiff
is confined to a wheelchair and undergoes physical, occupational and speech therapy.
