In Kingston on Thursday night, a drunken driver caused a head-on collision
that injured the two people in the other vehicle.
According to town police, Lauren Canavan, 33, of Kingston, was driving
a 1999 Dodge Stratus south on Ulster Avenue when she crossed the double
yellow line into oncoming traffic and crashed head-on into another vehicle.
Greg A. Young, 56,was driving the other vehicle with a passenger, Susan
Perea, 55, both of them from Red Hook. They were both taken to the HealthAlliance
Hospital's Broadway Campus in Kingston to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Canavan was arrested at 8:30 p.m. and charged with the misdemeanors of
drunken driving, aggravated DWI with a blood-alcohol content greater than
0.18 percent and driving with a suspended registration. She was also charged
