On Tuesday evening in Rhinebeck, a two-car collision left both drivers
injured and part of state Route 9G and Violet Hill Road closed for more
than an hour.
According to Henry A. Campbell of the Rhinebeck Fire Department, the accident
occurred at 4:52 when the first vehicles stopped to make a left hand turn
onto Violet Hill Road from Route 9G and was rear-ended by the second vehicle.
The driver of the first car was taken to Northern Dutchess Hospital in
Rhinebeck after being evaluated at the scene.
The second driver was trapped in his vehicle and required "extensive
extrication" before being taken to MidHudson Regional Hospital in
Poughkeepsie to be evaluated and treated.
There were no passengers in either vehicle and the drivers identities have
not been released.
